Eleven-VR Wiki

Many Eleven Table Tennis players modify their controller grip or use handle-shaped adapters to mimic the feel of a real racket, improving gameplay immersion and performance.

Benefits of Using an Adapter[]

  1. Natural Grip and Angles A well-designed adapter allows for a realistic grip, enabling the same range of angles and strokes as in real-life table tennis.
  2. Better Reach Perception The adapter provides a more accurate sense of distance and positioning, helping players judge shots more effectively in VR.
  3. Realistic Weight Distribution VR controllers are typically too light and have a lower center of gravity compared to real rackets. An adapter adjusts these properties, making the virtual racket feel more authentic. This discourages unnatural movements like excessive wrist snaps—which are not only ineffective in real life but may also lead to long-term injuries.
  4. Improved Tracking Stability Adapters can compensate for the limitations of VR controller tracking. For example, the Quest 3 no longer has a tracking ring, significantly reducing the range of angles that maintain reliable tracking. Many Beat Saber, Gorilla Tag, and golf players have reported issues with this. An adapter can reposition the controller to ensure the LEDs remain visible during fast, sport-specific motions, such as table tennis strokes.

By addressing these factors, a well-crafted adapter helps bridge the gap between VR and real-life table tennis, allowing for smoother skill transfer.

Considerations for New Players[]

While adapters enhance realism, beginners without prior table tennis experience may not see immediate improvements. In fact, adjusting to the new weight distribution might temporarily hinder performance.

High-quality adapters closely replicate the feel of a real racket, whereas holding a bare controller can feel unnatural—like gripping a rock. Players who learn exclusively in VR risk developing inefficient techniques, such as overusing wrist movements instead of proper body weight transfer.

For those committed to using an adapter, we recommend:

  • Watching real-life table tennis tutorials
  • Seeking coaching to master proper grip and technique (e.g., drives, loops)

This approach helps prevent bad habits and ensures a smoother transition between VR and real-world play.

Adapters[]

Latest Adapters[]

Players have used various devices to hold a controller/tracker to feel more like holding a real table tennis bat (or at least the handle of one).

For the following devices, you can find Eleven Table Tennis (ETT) adapters designed by SolidSlime at https://VRPingPong.net .

All of these adapters are suitable for both shakehand and penhold and have been approved by many top players.

Co-designed by discord regular Soulnight, an in-game controller orientation preset is available to users of those headsets which corresponds to this adaptor. This is a 3D printed object.

Oculus Rift (CV1) adaptor[]

Designed by discord regular Eldragon0 and modified by discord regular cufsta, an in-game controller orientation preset will soon be available to Oculus Rift users which corresponds to this adaptor. This is a 3D printed object.

Vive puck adaptor[]

This adaptor was commercially sold as an accessory to the vive puck.

Other adapters:[]

AMVR adapters[]

Is really good for PICO only, all other versions lead to bad tracking. So in case you want to buy it e.g. for Quest 2/3 - would be waste of money.

Wasyl, Bonwasy 3D printed adapters[]

Those adapters can be easily 3D printed and have same good tracking as other for Quest 3. Links:
